Tower Petition

Developers Vornado Realty Trust and Stellar Management are planning a 90-story, super-luxury condominium tower between Independence Plaza’s 310 Greenwich and the Harrison Street historic townhouses. They claim the current development plan is as-of-right, not subject to community review, and not required to provide any new affordable housing.

We, the undersigned, oppose the development in its current form. This 90-story tower is nearly three times the height of the existing IPN buildings and grossly out of scale with the surrounding neighborhood. We call for community input in the development process and support to keep Tribeca from becoming another ‘Billionaire’s Row,’ like 57th Street.

We are concerned about:

The lack of significant new, permanently affordable housing

The impact on the community (air quality, parking, traffic, resiliency, shadows, infrastructure, senior services)

The potential for structural damage to the historic townhouses

We call for government decision makers to:

Challenge the developer’s claim that they are allowed to develop as-of-right

Consider a zoning change implementing height limits in all the Tribeca areas that currently allow supertall towers
